MEET YOUR COACH
Alec Carton, (Ali Tapaquon) is a Nêhiyaw and Ethiopian relative (he/him/his/they/them) whose matrilineal lineage is now in Ceġa'kin Nakoṫa Oyáṫe, Treaty 4, by way of his mother, Heather Tapaquon. His patrilineal heritage stems from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, through his late father, Daoud Mohommed. He is the mîchis (adopted son) of Tatâgagan, Tom Snow, an Îethka Nakoda Elder and teacher from the Stoney Nakoda Nation.
With a passion for preserving cultural heritage, he is dedicated to sharing the rich traditions of his Nêhiyaw and Ethiopian communities. As a respected leader and speaker, he is deeply involved in traditional ceremonies, hunting, language revitalization, singing, and the use of plant medicines.
As the Principal of Tatâga Inc., an Indigenous Management Consultancy, he has become a recognized expert in the fields of socio-conscious organizational strategy and social impact. With a focus on creating positive change, Tatâga Inc. has partnered with premier GROUPS such as Lululemon, Google ChromeBook, Arc’teryx, Paul Band First Nation, the Fairmont Banff Springs, and more, all striving towards a future filled with meaningful and harmonious relationships. In his first year of business, Tatâga Inc. made over $100K in sales — he did this at the age of 24.
